Welcome to the 2026-2027 North Fork Trails Association activity calendar! Weather and other circumstances keep things a bit fluid, but the schedule below has most of the principle elements in place — enough for planning purposes, certainly.

All that being said, here’s the framework of our calendar into spring of next year. Use the “Contact Us” page if you have questions.

July

Wednesday, July 1, 8:30am (rescheduled to July 11 due to water runoff conditions) – Chain Lakes Trail No. 377 maintenance . . .

Wednesday, July 8, 1:00pm – North Fork Interlocal Agreement Meeting at Sondreson Hall. The North Fork Trails Association is the sponsor this year! Be there by noon if you want lunch; earlier if you wish to help out. See this article for more background.

Saturday, July 11, 8:30am – (rescheduled from July 1) – Chain Lakes Trail No. 377 maintenance: Remove remaining obstructions from top end that were still under snow earlier. Departure from the Walker’s at 8:30am or meet us at the trailhead on Red Meadow Road. The trail is a little over a mile long and steep, providing access to a very nice high-mountain lake. Quite a bit of saw work. There will also be a need for loppers. Contact Bill Walker (wkwalker@nvdi.com) for details.

Wednesday, July 15, 8:30am – Scout and do some work on trails in Dead Horse Ridge vicinity. Assuming roads are clear, we’ll start at the northern end of Deadhorse-Elelehum Trail No. 255. We expect considerable downfall; loppers and Silky saws will see a fair bit of use. We may drag a chainsaw along. Safety glasses, work gloves, mosquito repellent and bear spray recommended.. August

Saturday, August 8, 8:30am – We’ll be working on Moose Creek Trail No. 9. This trail, along with a very short segment of Nasukoin Mtn Trail No. 375, is the eastern route to the Grizzly Inn, The primary objective is clearing the first 3.7 miles (6km), a section of old roadbed from the trailhead up to the point where the trail turns sharply and starts a 1.6 mile (2.6km) climb up the face of the ridge to the Grizzly Inn. The trail has already had some brushing out and downfall removal recently, but still has some larger obstructions requiring heavier tools and, no doubt, could use further general cleanup.

Departure is from the Walker’s at 8:30am or meet us at the T9 trailhead at the end of Moose Creek Road a little later. Bear spray, heavy gloves and safety glasses recommended. Contact Bill Walker (wkwalker@nvdi.com) for details.

Saturday, October 3, 8:30am – End-of-season hike: Coal Creek Coal Ridge Trail No. 239 maintenance (note earlier start time). This is typically more of a hike than a maintenance effort, although some obstruction removal is likely. The trail climbs the south face of Coal Ridge. The trail is short, just under 2 miles (3km), reaching the ridge-top about a half-mile (0.8km) to the west of the patrol cabin. As always, bear spray is recommended.
