Hay Creek Trail No. 3 is open
Hay Creek Trail No, 3, a segment of the Pacific Northwest Trail, is clear. This, along with a piece of Trail 26 that was cleared earlier. opens up the Hay Creek Valley for foot travel from the eastern end. over the Whitefish Divide and down to Red Meadow Road.
Note that the Hay Creek area is without a doubt bear country. One of the signature characteristics of the Hay Creek Trail is bear scat. So, watch your step and consider carrying bear spray.

Moran Creek Trail No 2 is open!
Moran Creek Trail No. 2, the route most folks take to reach the spine of Coal Ridge, is now open. We’d have had it open a couple of weeks ago, but our chainsaw failed at an awkward moment, leaving us with a pair of substantial larch to be removed later.
Enjoy!
