Saturday , July 11, we opened Chain Lakes Trail No. 377 to foot traffic.

We took out several trees near the top of the trail, some fairly substantial, but encountered one obstruction that was beyond the capabilities of the equipment we had on-hand. The upper section of the Chain Lakes Trail is home to quite a few huge, old-growth trees, A couple of them slammed down down across the trail during last December’s major wind event.

Presently, there is a “social trail” around the east side of the blockage. We cleaned this up a little bit. We also did some brushing out  along the lower part of the trail.

So, enjoy the trail. The lake and the ones beyond it are a really nice payoff at the top of a fairly short, steep climb.
